Chromite sand casting, originating from South Africa (SAMANCOR), is a special foundry sand. Chromite sand is a natural spinel mainly composed of chromite.

Chromite sand is used in foundries as a highly fireproof sharpener for molds and cores.

Chromium ore sand, whose main chemical component is Cr2O3, has a stable volume when heated and high thermal conductivity. When the sand comes into contact with molten metal, it not only has good resistance to alkaline slag and will not react chemically with iron oxide, but also has the characteristics of solid phase sintering, which can effectively prevent the penetration of molten metal and avoid sand mold defects.
