Borax/ Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate CAS 1303-96-4

Borax, CAS NO.1303-96-4, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron compound, mineral and borate. Borax powder is white in color and consists of soft colorless crystals that are easily soluble in water.

Preparation of Borax: Borax is a product of shallow lake evaporation. It can also be produced synthetically from other boron compounds.

Borax uses: Used in preservatives and pharmaceuticals, as a flux in smelting, brazing, and welding operations; as a deoxidizer for nonferrous metals; as a neutron absorber for atomic energy shielding; rocket fuel; and in the extremely hard abrasive boron carbide (harder than corundum).
