Application of zinc sulfide
XINDA LS-395Y is a high-purity functional white pigment based on zinc sulfide. It is commonly used in the following applications.
1. Plastic and rubber
- low abrasion: The Mohs hardness of LS-395Y is lower than that of TiO2. Therefore it can be used in all glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) where good tensile strength and other mechanical properties are required. With lubricating properties, it can protect machines and molds from wear.
- Excellent processability: LS-395Y can be used as a lubricant to avoid embrittlement of elastomeric plastics. It also has good dispersion and high temperature stability, which can facilitate the processing of high-performance plastics and improve production efficiency.
- Excellent optical performance: LS-395Y is a unique white pigment that can be used with optical brighteners for brighter whiteness. Unlike TiO2, it also blocks metal ions from entering the polymer. Therefore, it can improve the weather resistance of plastics.
- High thermal conductivity: LS-395Y has high thermal conductivity when used in polyolefins, helps protect polymers from thermal degradation, and is suitable for plastics in LEDs.
*Application Examples - Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics
- Mixing with TiO2, PA66 glass fiber reinforcement will significantly reduce its mechanical properties. However, using zinc sulfide LS-395Y instead of TiO2, the mechanical properties are well preserved.

2. Paints and Coatings
- prevent cracking: LS-395Y has high thermal conductivity, which keeps the coating at a proper temperature to avoid cracks.
- UV curing properties: Traditional white pigments block UV rays from entering the inner layer of the coating. Therefore, traditional white or colored paints cannot use UV curing technology. But LS-395Y can let more ultraviolet rays enter the interior of the coating and trigger the crosslinking reaction of the internal photoinitiator. It can also reduce the amount of other additives, thereby reducing costs.
- Easy to adjust: Low binder requirements allow formulators to adjust the viscosity of the coating.
- Corrosion resistance: LS-395Y has high stability and chemical resistance. It isolates water and oxygen and other elements that can damage metallic materials.
* Application example - UV curable coating
Compared with TiO2, the end of the light absorption spectrum is greatly shifted to the ultraviolet region. With highly efficient photoinitiator activation, thicker white UV coatings cure faster and more completely.

3.Paper
