Polycarboxylate superplasticizer PCE, also known asHigh Range Water Reducer, is a chemical mixture used when a well-dispersed particle suspension is required. These polymers are used as dispersants to avoid separation of particles (gravel, coarse and fine sand) and to improve the flow characteristics (rheology) of suspensions, e.g. in concrete applications. Adding them to concrete or mortar reduces the water-cement ratio without negatively affecting the workability of the mixture and allows the production of self-compacting and high-performance concrete.
